Joining Competitive

This Guide has been put together to make your first season competing with MKCA as easy as possible.

  1. Book in a free trial by contacting the office on 07707950204.  Here we will asses the athlete and give you the classes we feel would be most suitable.  These are based on age, experience and skill set.
  2. Fill in the contact form and make sure changes to your information are updated when applicable.
  3. Set up a direct debit as soon as you have attended your free trial and are ready to join as it takes us a few days to action each payment. The first payment will cover what is due for the remainder of the month your joined and then a Direct Debit will be actioned for the first of each month (this may be different if the first falls on a weekend) Please follow this link
  4. All competition fees will be collected by direct debit.  Check the payment calendar make a note of the dates for each payment and make sure you have the funds available.
  5. Order your training kit.  For competitive members this will be at least the silver option. Our kits are ordered from abroad so there is an estimated 6 week lead time. Kits will be distributed in class as soon as they arrive.
  6. Fill in the consent forms.
  7. Find out who the Team Mum is for your Squad, introduce yourself and add them on social media. They will look after you, as they are our seasoned cheer parents they will be able to answer any questions you may have and offer a friendly face when you attend events and competitions.
  8. Like our facebook page and ask your Team Mum to add you to the secret face book group where you can ask questions to other cheer parents and also post pictures and videos of your athletes successes.
  9. Order cheer shoes.  Most of our athletes currently wear nfinity’s or kaepa shoes.  I suggest you order a size up when ordering nfinity as they come up small.  Also keep in mind that they are in American sizes so make sure you convert the sizes appropriately.  We don’t sell cheer shoes but here a couple of places that we recommend.
  10. Put all the training dates in your diary, this may also include Sundays termly. Competitive Athletes must not miss any training session in the 3 weeks leading up to a competition. Make sure you know when all the dates are to avoid double booking.
  11. We have workshops for choreography.  Attendance to these workshops is compulsory for all athletes.  We have dates for these in the calendar so please make sure you keep them free.
